Educational Specialist

Tutor_Headshot_1.JPG

As an Educational Specialist and credentialed teacher, Amber applies her 25 years of experience and passion for teaching people to learn through equity-based skills. Her passion has always been helping readers and writers find their potential and meet academic goals that once seemed far from reach. She has a Master of Arts in Teaching from UC Berkeley, where she learned how to create a culturally responsive and socially just classroom environment that connects learners to their lived experiences.

As a former corporate trainer, mentor, and consultant for Lindamood Bell clinics and former CEO and director of the Literacy and Language Center in San Francisco for 13 years, she has shown her mastery in Structured Literacy instruction. Part of her mission is to make education more accessible, inclusive, and effective for all learners.

When she isn’t teaching, Amber professionally plays the oboe, flute, and English Horn and de-stresses by baking variations of brownies. She is an avid rower and traveler who sometimes shoots arrows at targets in the forest. Her love of nature, fantasy, philosophy, and sci-fi books has motivated her to have a very interesting life!
