Rama Tandon

Dyslexia Specialist

Rama is a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and Dyslexia Interventionist with over 25 years of experience working with children with learning differences. Originally from India, she has dedicated her career to supporting students with dyslexia through evidence-based and culturally responsive practices. Rama holds three master’s degrees, including an M.Ed. in Special Education (Learning Disabilities and Emotional Behavioral Disorders) from The University of Texas at Austin. She is trained in Sounds in Syllables, Reading by Design, and Take Flight.

Rama currently serves as an English Learning Specialist and Dyslexia Interventionist at an international school in San Francisco, where she supports multilingual learners and students with diverse literacy needs. She has served as a Board Member of the International Dyslexia Association, Austin Branch, advocating for literacy awareness and equitable access to evidence-based reading instruction.

In addition to her school-based work, Rama runs a YouTube channel dedicated to research-based dyslexia practices, where she shares practical insights and strategies for parents, educators, and interventionists.

 

Outside of her professional work, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and has been an enthusiastic badminton player for over 10 years. She believes in nurturing confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning in every student she works with.
